The stock answer to "how often should windows be cleaned" is twice a year. For Northern Utah, that's a reasonable baseline — but after thousands of jobs from Brigham City to Bluffdale, we can tell you the right schedule depends a lot on where exactly you live.
The Northern Utah baseline: 2–4 times a year
Most homes here do well with a spring clean (after the last gritty snowstorms and before sprinkler season) and a fall clean (after the sprinklers shut off, before the holidays). Homes in dustier spots or with heavy sprinkler exposure benefit from adding one or two more visits — which is exactly what our quarterly service plans are built around.
Live on the bench? Plan on more
East-bench homes — Ogden, Bountiful, Sandy, anywhere up against the Wasatch — take canyon wind and the grit that rides on it all year. South- and west-facing glass on the bench can look dusty within weeks of a clean. Quarterly service keeps these homes consistently clear.
Sprinkler season is the real enemy
From May to October, overspray from mineral-heavy irrigation water is the fastest way Utah windows get ruined — not just dirty. If sprinklers hit your glass, fix the spray pattern first, then get the minerals cleaned off before they etch. Once hard-water scale bonds, it takes specialized removal, and severely etched glass can't be saved.
Don't skip the winter clean
January and February inversions coat glass with a gray film that dulls every room in the house, right when you're indoors the most. A late-winter clean is the most underrated appointment on the calendar — and it's our quietest season, so scheduling is easy.
A simple rule of thumb
- Standard neighborhood, no sprinkler overspray: spring + fall
- Bench home or dusty area: quarterly
- Sprinklers hitting glass: fix the spray, then clean promptly each season
- Listing your home: clean the week before photos
Our service plans put this on autopilot — discounted recurring visits, priority scheduling, and a rain guarantee on every clean.
